Etsy fee calculator
Etsy never takes just one fee. On a $100 item the stack is $6.50 transaction fee + $3.25 payment processing + $0.20 listing fee = $9.95, leaving you $90.05 — an effective rate of 9.95% before any advertising or regulatory fees. The calculator above adds every layer for your price.

How the Etsy fee works
An Etsy sale passes through three charges at once. The transaction fee is 6.5% of the total (including the shipping you charge). Etsy Payments processing in the US is 3% + $0.25. And every listing costs $0.20, charged when the listing is created or renewed — sellers often forget it because it does not arrive with the sale.
Because two of the layers carry flat amounts, cheap items bleed the most: on a $10 item the same stack takes $1.40, or 14%. That is why so many low-priced Etsy items are bundled or pushed toward a minimum order.
Etsy rates at a glance
| Component | Percent | Flat fee |
|---|---|---|
| Transaction fee | 6.5% | — |
| Etsy Payments processing | 3% | $0.25 |
| Listing fee (per item) | — | $0.20 |
Some countries add a regulatory operating fee on top, Etsy Ads and offsite ads are separate percentages when they apply, and the transaction fee also applies to shipping charges. This calculator covers the three core layers every US seller pays. Rates checked Oct 2026 — always confirm on Etsy's official fees page.
What Etsy takes from $10, $100 and $1,000
| You charge | Etsy fee | You receive | Effective rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| $10.00 | $1.40 | $8.60 | 14.00% |
| $100.00 | $9.95 | $90.05 | 9.95% |
| $1,000.00 | $95.45 | $904.55 | 9.54% |
Flat fees are why small payments lose the largest share: on a $10 charge the fixed part alone can outweigh the percentage. If your typical ticket is small, the effective-rate column — not the headline rate — is the number to plan around.
Frequently asked questions
What are Etsy's total fees on a $100 sale?
Transaction fee $6.50, payment processing $3.25 (3% + $0.25), and the $0.20 listing fee total $9.95, so you keep $90.05 before any ads or regulatory fees.
Does the 6.5% transaction fee apply to shipping?
Yes — Etsy calculates the transaction fee on the total amount the buyer pays, including shipping charges you set. Free shipping does not remove the fee; it just moves the cost into your item price.
When is the $0.20 listing fee charged?
At listing creation, and again each time the listing renews — automatically after four months, or when a multi-quantity listing sells. It is easy to miss because it is billed separately from the sale itself.
How much should I price an item to keep $50 after Etsy fees?
Use reverse mode: the stacked rate is 9.5% + $0.45 flat, so you would price at $55.74. The fee on $55.74 works out to $5.74, leaving exactly $50.00.
